All-new last year, the full-size Toyota Sequoia SUV returns for 2024 with even more to love.
The Sequoia is the first full-size SUV to get a hybrid powertrain as standard equipment. Although this design doesn’t deliver the stellar fuel economy one finds in a Toyota Prius or RAV4 Hybrid; it does help keep fuel economy figures above the 20-mpg mark.
More importantly, the 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine and electric motor team up to produce an impressive 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, giving the Sequoia plenty of power for passing and merging, not to mention a 9,000-pound tow rating.
The Sequoia has five unique trims, one leaning heavily toward off-road adventuring. They are SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Capstone. The TRD Pro comes standard with 4-wheel drive (4WD), while all other trims are rear-wheel drive with the option to upgrade.
The 3-row Sequoia has stiff competition, including the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada, and Jeep Wagoneer. However, because Toyota doesn’t make an extended platform, SUVs like the Chevy Suburban, Ford Expedition Max, and GMC Yukon XL all have an advantage the Sequoia can’t match.

What’s New:
Fresh from its revamp a year ago, the 2024 Toyota Sequoia arrives with only minor changes. The TRD Off-Road package is now available on the Platinum trim, while the Limited offers a new Nightshade Package.
Our Recommendation:
The Limited grade is a solid compromise between standard content and cost. If you want to go off-roading, spring for the 4WD and maybe the TRD Off-Road Package.

2024 Toyota Sequoia SR5: $60,875 (2WD), $63,875 (4WD)
To say that the entry-level SR5 trim is the most affordable Sequoia is a bit of a misnomer. After all, the Nissan Armada starts a whopping 10 grand less, and the Chevy Tahoe is nearly $5,000 cheaper. That said, Toyota loads the SR5 with enough features to justify its price, and the Sequoia’s impressive resale history should lessen the sting when it comes time to trade in.
The SR5’s ample equipment list begins with Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.5. This suite of driver aids includes pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign detection that can identify speed limit, “Do Not Enter,” and stop signs and display them as icons in the instrument cluster.
Further assistance comes by way of lane-tracing assist and lane-departure warning with steering assist to help nudge the Sequoia back into its lane. Adaptive cruise control maintains a set speed and distance from the vehicle directly ahead.
The SR5 includes a blind-spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and trailer merge warning, which estimates the length of a trailer in tow and adds it to the blind-spot monitor’s detection area. This system automatically activates when engaging Trailer Brake Control.
The SR5’s exterior sports power-folding, heated, auto-dimming side mirrors with tilt-down-in-reverse feature. It also has auto on/off LED headlights, LED fog lights, and front door handles with touch sensors to lock and unlock the vehicle (requires having the key fob in your purse or pocket).
Eighteen-inch alloy wheels look sharp, complemented by dark tinted rear privacy glass, satin black mirror caps, and black roof rails. A flip-up rear window built into the liftgate allows easy access to cargo, but some folks still miss the previous Sequoia’s roll-down rear glass.
A look inside the SR5 cabin reveals cloth upholstery covering 8-way power-adjustable heated front seats with 2-way power lumbar support. The SR5’s second row consists of a 60/40-split design that can recline, fold up, fold down, tumble forward, or slide forward, allowing easy access to the 60/40-split folding third-row seat.
Soft-touch surfaces abound, including the armrests, center console, and instrument panel. Overhead, a power moonroof lets in more light and fresh air, while directly ahead, the driver enjoys a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Other features include a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, a 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor, push-button start, one-touch auto up/down power windows, and 3-zone automatic climate control with rear climate controls and vents.
On the infotainment front, the SR5 gets an 8-inch touchscreen paired with an 8-speaker stereo. The system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 3-month trial subscription to SiriusXM Platinum, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and Toyota’s connected services with up to a 10-year trial for the Safety and Service Connect apps.
Toyota offers several options, mostly bundled into packages. Buyers can opt for a heated steering wheel, power-extending tow mirrors, an integrated dash cam, and an integrated in-cabin electric cooler.
The TRD Sport Package adds 20-inch TRD wheels, Bilstein shocks, a TRD leather shift knob, and aluminum pedals. The Premium Package adds a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen, SofTex vinyl seat upholstery, a hands-free power liftgate, power-folding third-row seats, and two 120-volt outlets.
The Tow Technology Package adds a digital rearview camera mirror and trailer backup guide.
If you opt for 4WD, you can also add the TRD Off-Road Package. It has a locking rear differential, all-terrain tires, Bilstein shocks, skid plates, down-hill assist, Crawl Control, Multi-Terrain Monitor, Multi-Terrain Select, and more.
Adding the $1,850 destination fee (in most states) to the SR5 base price brings the total to $62,725. If you put $0 down and finance for 60 months at 5% interest, the monthly payment works out to $1,184. See 2024 Toyota Sequoia SR5 models for sale near you
