The third row folds flat when not used, creating a cavernous cargo hold.

Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid (1st Generation: 2024 - Current)

The Highlander Hybrid offers two powertrain choices. The XLE and Limited come standard with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and electric motor producing 245 horsepower. Optional on the Limited and standard on the Platinum is the Hybrid Max powertrain with a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and electric motor matchup good for an impressive 362 hp. The standard hybrid powertrain gets better fuel economy, rated at 36 mpg combined vs. 27 mpg for the Hybrid Max. However, the Hybrid Max offers superior towing ability, rated at 5,000 pounds vs. the standard hybrid’s 3,500-pound rating. So, is there any sacrifice choosing the Grand Highlander over a larger SUV or nearest rival? We're hard-pressed to think of one. The standard equipment list is quite generous, with a full roster of safety and driver-assist systems like adaptive cruise control, auto high-beam headlights, lane-keeping assist, and traffic sign recognition. The standard infotainment setup consists of a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and amenities range from a height-adjustable power liftgate to 3-zone climate control and even a wireless charging pad. Available equipment varies by trim and includes a foot-activated power liftgate, rain-sensing wipers, a configurable 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic moonroof, a 360-degree surround vision camera, heated and ventilated front seats, and a magnificent JBL audio system. At the top end, the Platinum offers more luxury, backed by such high-tech goodies as a rearview camera mirror, a head-up display, and Traffic Jam Assist, which can brake, steer, and accelerate without driver intervention at speeds up to 25 mph.
