This is the last year for the 4Runner in its current form, a design that has served its owners exceedingly well over the years. Its rugged body-on-frame construction, proven 270 horsepower V6 engine, stellar resale, and reliability make it one of the most coveted mid-size SUVs. When equipped with 4WD, the 4Runner has impressive off-road chops bolstered by the three off-road-oriented trims: TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, and TRD Pro. Even if you’re not looking to tackle the Rubicon trail, a humble rear-drive SR5 can still handle most chores, from hauling kids and groceries to towing trailers weighing up to 5,000 pounds.

What's New for 2024:

The <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/toyota/4runner">Toyota 4Runner</a> is largely unchanged for 2024, aside from two new colors. Underground is a dark gray, and Terra is a brownish orange, available exclusively on the TRD Pro model. 

In other news, all trim levels now come equipped with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, two of our favorite safety technologies.

Its standard roster includes several advanced driver-assist systems, including automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with sway warning, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert. Other notable standard equipment includes a proximity keyless entry system, LED headlights, windshield wiper de-icers, and a rear liftgate with power retractable glass. The SR5’s cabin seats five but can be expanded to seven with the optional third-row seat. Manual air conditioning, a power driver's seat, a 120-volt cargo bay outlet, and an 8-inch infotainment screen hosting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto finish off the SR5's best features.

Its X-REAS sport suspension constantly adjusts the cross-linked shock damping at each wheel, allowing the TRD Sport to ride comfortably while maintaining good chassis composure when driven aggressively on twisty roads. Additional features include a 20-inch wheel/tire setup, black roof rails, a TRD hood scoop, SofTex (faux leather) upholstery, and TRD interior styling elements. Available options include a 360-degree panoramic view monitor, additional paint choices, and power deployable running boards.|

Options for the SR5 Premium include a power sunroof, a sliding rear cargo deck, and a 360-degree monitor.

Luxury features include heated and ventilated perforated leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a power moonroof. There's a 360-degree monitor, front and rear parking sensors, auto on/off headlights, and an excellent 15-speaker JBL audio system.

Crawl Control, a low-speed off-road system similar to cruise control, comes standard, along with Multi-Terrain Select driving modes for Rock, Rock/Dirt, Mogul, Loose Rock, and Mud/Sand. An optional Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) automatically modulates the front and rear anti-roll bars, creating better wheel articulation when off-roading and improved chassis control when driving on pavement.

Options include the KDSS and the Off-Road Premium Plus Package, which features a Multi-Terrain Monitor that provides handy camera views — even an underfloor one — for off-roading.

Other standard hardware on the 4Runner TRD Pro includes a power moonroof, a TRD roof rack, and a unique "TOYOTA" grille. Further sweetening the TRD Pro are dual-zone climate control, GPS navigation, Multi-Terrain and 360-degree panoramic monitors, and a 15-speaker JBL audio system.
